I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. Media Monitors Pty Ltd is an experienced provider of comprehensive media monitoring services to government and the private sector. The services provided to the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection include comprehensive monitoring of print and broadcast media Australia-wide. The information is provided via a media portal Internet service, which delivers digital press clippings, television and radio broadcasts to the department seven days a week. All clippings and broadcast summaries are delivered to a searchable 90-day online archive, which is available 24/7. This information covers areas of interest to the department. Other products, such as transcripts and audio and video clips, are also available on request, as is the ability to distribute media statements if required. The total cost of the contract is $400 000 over a four-year period - two plus two - or $100 000 per annum. There is a cost saving by having one contract for the whole of the department rather than for separate divisions, as was the case prior to September 2006. This is due to there now being only one retainer or administration fee.
