I have asked the Department of Regional Development and Lands to examine and clarify the legal ability of pastoral lessees to exclude others from accessing a river or water course that traverses a pastoral lease. In the interim I have also asked the Department to meet with the Member for the Pilbara, Hon Tom Stephens MLA to further understand the nature of his concerns in relation to this question.
