PUBLIC HOUSING — COMMENTS BY MEMBER FOR JANDAKOT
If that is the case, minister, will we find Homeswest residents being victimised as unemployment inevitably increases in Western Australia because of prejudices in statements made by the member for Jandakot? Mr T.R. BUSWELL

Homeswest residents will not be prejudiced against on the basis of employment or otherwise; Homeswest tenants will be held to account for their behaviour. The government will assist in the first instance — Mr D.A. Templeman interjected. Mr T.R. BUSWELL : Has the member ever had a complaint about a Homeswest tenant, and did he ever write the same soppy sort of letters that Ministers for Housing have written forever, starting with the member for Midland and others, including the member for Pilbara—the one up the back of the chamber—who in 2001 was going to introduce a housing policy in Western Australia to solve every problem under the sun? That was never done! I support the member for Jandakot standing up for his constituents. More than 20 000 people are on the Homeswest waiting list in Western Australia and in my view we need to send a very clear message to tenants who do not behave properly: if they are not going to behave after being given the opportunity to be a good tenant, there are 20 000 people on the waiting list for that house.
