Has the minister received any advice from the Department of Environment and Conservation, or any other department, that any Pilbara subaquifer or groundwater source is being damaged or causing damage to the Pilbara’s surface environment as a result of Pilbara-based mining operations? Given the scope of the question, I request that the member place the question on notice; however, I can advise the member that I am aware that the Environmental Protection Authority has recommended a number of conditions in relation to mining below the watertable as part of its assessment of Hamersley Iron’s proposed Marandoo mining phase 2 project. But as the member’s question is quite broad in nature, I ask that she put the question on notice.
