ELECTORAL REFORM — ADVISORY COMMITTEE
58. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Electoral Affairs:
I refer to the answer to question
without notice 24 asked by me in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, 4 May 2021
and the minister's inability to answer the most basic questions, so I will
ask it again.
(1) What is the estimated cost of
the committee?
(2) What is the estimated cost of
remunerating each committee member?
(3) Given the
likely impact of the minister's review on regional representation,
which was not on the government's agenda immediately prior to the
election, how many of the committee members currently reside in regional Western
Australia?
(4) Was the establishment of the
committee supported by a decision of cabinet?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. I provide the following answer on behalf of the Minister for
Electoral Affairs.
(1) Total costs are yet to be finalised and will be
reported to the Parliament in the usual manner when determined.
(2) Committee
members will be remunerated under the Public Sector Commission guidelines. When
the full cost is known, it will be reported to Parliament in the usual manner.
(3) The member's
question pre-empts the outcome of the ministerial expert committee report and
is therefore hypothetical.
(4) The decisions of cabinet are
cabinet-in-confidence.
