I refer to the parliamentary secretary’s answer to question without notice No 898 on 11 December 2001. (1) Will the minister table the relevant Fremantle Port Authority assessment of the environmental aspects relating to the loading of stockfeed pellets; and, if not, why not? (2) Will the minister table the relevant documentation confirming that the Fremantle Port Authority monitors on a regular basis the stevedores’ performance and the environmental and health aspects associated with loading the stockfeed pellets onto the sheep transport ships in Fremantle Harbour; and, if not, why not? (3) What elements comprise the environmental and health aspects referred to as being monitored by the Fremantle Port Authority and what other health and environment issues and other aspects are considered? (1) Yes. I table a copy of an assessment of the impact of fodder on harbour waters. As a result of this assessment the Fremantle Port Authority marine quality monitoring program includes analysis of nutrient levels in port waters. [See paper No 1016.] (2) Routine visual monitoring of impacts such as dust and spillage is a part of regular port patrols by FPA staff, and complaints are investigated if they arise. Environmental impacts are being covered through the FPA marine quality monitoring program. Health impacts for stevedoring employees are the responsibility of the employer. (3) As above. Should the member have any specific concerns regarding the impacts of loading stockfeed pellets, the FPA would be pleased to investigate them if they fall within its jurisdiction.
