The

Mr
J.E. McGrath interjected.
The

Mr
P.B. WATSON : Minister —
Ms

Mr P.B. WATSON : —
when will the government stop playing games with the people of Albany by saying
that the promised funding is under consideration, and get on and confirm that
it will be available? We now have Middleton Beach, which is a sandpit; we have
the entertainment area down at the bottom of the sandpit; and now we have a

I have outlined very clearly that
this state government has made an enormous commitment to sport and recreation
facilities right across the state. The matter is under consideration. I am very
aware of the city's requirements and have had conversations with the
mayor to that effect.
Mr
P.B. Watson : Conversations! We want money!
The
SPEAKER : Member for Albany.
Mr
F.M. Logan interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Cockburn, I do not want to call you for the third time,
so relax. Minister.
Ms
M.J. DAVIES : Thank you, Mr Speaker. Can I point out that we have already
committed $8 million; $8 million has already been invested by this state
government into this precinct. Funding from Regional Development Australia has
been secured as well. As I said, we are considering it. The business case is
being worked on by the Department of Sport and Recreation. I am very confident
that we will meet the state government's election commitment.
