PERTH–DARWIN
HIGHWAY — ELECTION COMMITMENT
140. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Premier:
I ask a supplementary question. How
does the Premier's answer today match what the government tabled in the
upper house yesterday, which said that the commitment was to build the entire
37 kilometres from 2016 to 2019? What the Premier is saying today is
contradicting that.
Mr
T.R. Buswell : No, it's not.
Ms
R. SAFFIOTI : Yes, it is. How does the Premier explain it?

The project will cost around $800 million.
The government is committed to building it during this period of government,
and has included it in the forward estimates. The commitment is $196 million, a
good start when the Labor Party was going to have no start. The member opposite
is a serial underperformer in her electorate. The biggest achievement in her
electorate has been by Natasha Cheung, who helped secure funding for the
dualling of Gnangara Highway today. Well done, Natasha.
