Shadow Minister for Education, Sue Ellery, asks the Minister for Education to table school-by-school preliminary funding for 2016. The Minister responds that schools have been given the tools to calculate their budgets based on projected enrolments and funding rates, but finalised budgets will be published after the student census in March 2016.

SCHOOLS — PRELIMINARY FUNDING PROJECTIONS —
2016
1033. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
Given that public schools have been
given their preliminary funding based on projected enrolments for 2016, will
the minister table the school-by-school preliminary funding for 2016; and, if
not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
Schools have not been given their
2016 preliminary funding. However, they have been given the prices for 2016 and
the tools that will automatically calculate their budgets when student enrolments
for 2016 are entered and adjusted. For 2016, there has been a 2.56 per cent
increase for the per-student funding rates, enrolment-linked base allocation
and locality allowance and a 2.5 per cent increase for student characteristic
allocations. Principals will continue to update student enrolment information
in the system until the 2016 semester 1 student census. Finalised school
budgets will be published following confirmation of student census data in
March 2016.
