COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION — TWENTY-THIRD REPORT — ''REPORT
ON RECREATIONAL HUNTING SYSTEMS'' — GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
716. Hon LIZ BEHJAT to the
minister representing the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the government response, tabled on 16 June, to the
Standing Committee on Public Administration's twenty-third report on
recreational hunting and to the Minister for Environment's media
release, dated 16 June 2015, entitled ''No
recreational hunting trials on public land in WA''.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that it is his intention to give recreational hunting groups
the opportunity to partner with government agencies to support central programs
and assist in the long-term management of pest animals on land throughout
Western Australia?
(2) If yes to
(1), will the minister —
(a) inform the
house of the steps he has taken to implement these expanded, long-term
programs; and
(b) advise
what further action he considers may be necessary to ensure that any expanded
cooperative pest control program would be sustainable in the long term?
