Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the Home Building Contracts
Amendment Regulations 2020 tabled in the house on 9 June 2020.
(1) On what date were these
regulations published in the Government Gazette ?
(2) On what date did the minister
decide to recommend that the Governor make these regulations?
(3) Upon whose advice did the
minister make this decision?
(4) Who outside of government was
consulted prior to the decision being made?
(5) Will the
minister table a copy of the briefing notes and all other written documents
that form the written record of the minister's decision and the basis
for the minister's decision?

I thank the member for the
question. The Minister for Commerce has provided the following information.
(1) It was on 26 May 2020.
(2) It was on 12 May 2020.
(3) It was upon advice from the Department of Mines,
Industry Regulation and Safety, following representation from the
Cabinet Makers Association of Western Australia.
(4) Broad
industry and public consultation was undertaken. A consultation paper on
options for reform was released in July 2019. A total of 61 submissions were
received as part of this consultation paper.
(5) I table the ''Progress
Payments and Deposits in the Western Australian Cabinet Making Industry:
Consultation Paper''.
