TIER 3 RAIL LINES — BUSINESS CASES
691. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to my questions without
notice 194 of 22 March 2022 and 241 of 23 March 2022 in relation to the
Quairading–York, Kulin via Yilliminning to Narrogin and Kondinin via
Narembeen to West Merredin proposed tier 3 lines.
(1) When will the business cases for
each of these proposed lines be made public?
(2) Which, if any, of the business cases have been
submitted to Infrastructure Australia, and when were they submitted?
(3) Has the
minister approached the new federal Labor government for financial
contributions for these lines; and, if not, why not?

I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for some notice of the question. The following answer is provided on behalf of
the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(3) Stage 1 of the joint state and commonwealth
agricultural supply chain improvements—ASCI—program has already committed $72 million towards the progressive recommissioning of the
Narrogin–Kulin line. The Minister
for Transport is in close contact with the commonwealth government and is
pursuing opportunities for further federal funding of ASCI projects.
