The Manual for Managing Urban Stormwater Quality in Western Australia, which was published in 1998, is being updated to incorporate the most recent developments in stormwater management. A review of the current arrangements for undertaking stormwater (drainage) management in WA has been initiated with the involvement of the Western Australian Municipal Association, Department of Planning and Infrastructure, Water Corporation and Urban Development Institute of Australia. The Commission, in liaison with the Department of Planning and Infrastructure, is working to prepare 'Urban Water Management Strategies' in conjunction with the State's Strategic Planning Process. The first such strategy is currently being prepared for the Southern River-Forrestdale-Brookdale-Wungong Structure Plan area. This plan is due for completion in late December 2001.
