FREMANTLE RAIL LINE
222. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Transport:
I refer to patronage on the
Fremantle line.
(1) What factors
are deflating patronage on the Fremantle line to under 70 per cent of pre-COVID
levels?
(2) When does the minister expect
the patronage to reach parity with pre-COVID levels?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I answer on behalf of the Leader of the House. The
following answer is provided on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(2) The
opening of the airport line in October 2022 has seen an increase in the number
of services between Bayswater and Claremont stations. As expected, some
Fremantle line passengers are now accessing airport line services and therefore
are no longer reflected in Fremantle line patronage figures.
