I refer to a letter which I understand is dated Thursday, August 6 2003 reference 189969, titled ‘Addendum to Notice of Intent, Fimiston I Tailings Dam to Increase Capacity from 30 metres to 40 metres’ signed by Andrew Mack for K J Taylor, Director, Environmental Impact Assessment sent to a member of the public -
(1) Is it correct that part of the letter dated Thursday, August 6 2003 states ‘In order for the EPA Service Unit to investigate the matter, further information is required. To this end, the EPA service unit is writing to Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines to seek their urgent assistance and input’?
(2) If yes to (2) can the Minister quote the specific text of the entire letter written to KCGM seeking their urgent assistance and input?
(3) If no to (3) will the Minister table the letter?
(4) Will the Minister table a copy of all the information provided by KCGM as apparently requested and referred to in the letter dated August 6 2003?
(5) If no to (4) why not?
(6) Will the Minister table a copy of the ‘
Environmental Protection Act
Environmental Impact Assessment Administrative Procedures 2002’?
(7) If no to (6) why not?
(8) Can the Minister state all of the names of employees/staff that consist and operate within the ‘EPA Service Unit’?
(9) If no to (8) why not?
(10) Can the Minister specifically state what are the specific functions and objectives of the ‘EPA Service Unit’?
(11) If no to (10) why not?
(12) Can the Minister state the criteria and rationale used by the Department of Environmental Protection/ Environmental Protection Authority to determine the level of assessment for the above referred to proposal?

(12-13) These Administrative Procedures set out the procedures adopted by the EPA for dealing with referrals and in the assessment of proposals covered by Division 1 of Part IV of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 . I now seek leave to table the Environmental Impact Assessment Administrative Procedures 2002 (Attachment 1). See tabled paper.
