The properties in question are currently rented for residential use on an interim basis pending demolition and establishment of the Swan River foreshore parkland. The current property boom has reduced the private residential rental market to a historically low 1.4% vacancy rate. The Western Australian Planning Commission has determined not to demolish any residential rental properties in the current market unless absolutely necessary in order not to put further pressure on the rental market. Demolition of the three properties in Clarkson Road will be reviewed when the current market supply conditions stabilise. Work for the regional parkland in this area will be decided in collaboration with the City of Bayswater and as other regional priorities dictate.
