In 1988 the Department of Education purchased a non-standard education building for $8 000 from a mining company for the Gillingarra community. The Gillingarra community transported the building from Midland to the Gillingarra town site where the building was stumped and assembled at a cost of more than $12 000 to the community. It is currently being used as a library cum land conservation resource room. (1) Will the Department of Education and Training guarantee that the Gillingarra community will not have the above-mentioned building taken from it and removed? (2) Is the Department of Education and Training prepared to write off the cost of the building and give it to the Gillingarra community at no cost? Hon GRAHAM GIFFARD

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The Department of Education and Training has decided that all buildings will remain on site. (2) As the land is now vested with the Department for Planning and Infrastructure, the decision on community use of the buildings will be made by that department.
