VIOLENT SEX OFFENDERS —
PAROLE
160. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the answer on 15 November
2023 to my question without notice 1467 that revealed that a return to prison
warrant was outstanding for an offender who was known to be in custody in
another jurisdiction with an earliest release date of 22 February 2024.
(1) Was the WA
Police Force successful in extraditing this offender, whose return to prison
warrant had been outstanding for more than 1 000 days?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) What is the nature and range of
this fugitive's prior offending?
(4) Of the 40
outstanding return to prison warrants as at 27 February 2024, how many are for
offenders who are known to be in custody in another jurisdiction?
(5) Further to
(4), what is the earliest date of release from custody in each of these
extra-jurisdictional cases?
