QuestionView source ↗
In relation to my questions about high-wide load corridors, some notice of which I gave earlier today, I ask - (1) Was it the minister’s office or a government agency that failed to action these questions because it was of the view that the Legislative Council was not sitting today? (2) On sitting days, does the parliamentary secretary have communication with the ministerial office to ensure that these foul ups do not occur? Hon Kim Chance: How many questions did we not have answered in the same circumstances? What a joke! The PRESIDENT: Order! Hon SIMON O’BRIEN: Not because people could not be bothered? Hon Kim Chance interjected. The PRESIDENT: Order! The Leader of the House will come to order. Hon SIMON O’BRIEN: Thank you, Mr President. (3) What is the usual routine for parliamentary secretaries of the Gallop Labor Government in ensuring they play their part in accountability in this Chamber when representing members in the other place? Hon Kim Chance: This is outrageous. Your people used to say, “Wait until we are ready to answer it.” Hon SIMON O’BRIEN: It is not outrageous. Questions have been disregarded because members opposite think they do not matter. The PRESIDENT: Order! Hon G.T. GIFFARD
