I refer to the $121,753 paid in project management fees for the Big Aussie Barbeque that occurred during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, and I ask:
(a) was this paid to a contractor, if yes, who was this contractor; and
(b) how was the contractor selected, and what other individuals or organisations tendered for the work; and
(c) If no to (a), to which agency was this fee paid?

Department of the Premier and Cabinet advises:
(a) Yes, Lux Events.
(b) On 8 September 2011, a Request for Tender (RFT) for events management services was issued to four established event management organisations. Given the confidential nature of the event, each organisation was asked to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to receiving the RFT document. It was also clearly stated in the document that the requirements outlined were subject to change and the event may also be cancelled at any stage.
A non-mandatory briefing was held on 13 September 2011 for interested respondents and the closing date for submissions was 19 September 2011. Two submissions were received and both were considered in detail by the appointed tender evaluation panel. Lux Events was appointed as the successful respondent on 21 September 2011.
(c) Not applicable.
