REPLACEMENT OF PUBLIC BUS FLEET — DISABILITY ACCESS
I refer to the replacement of half the public bus fleet over 10 years. (1) What proportion of the new bus stock will be fully accessible to people with disabilities? (2) What proportion of the current fleet is fully accessible and what proportion of routes are serviced by fully accessible buses? Hon SIMON O’BRIEN

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for notice of the question. (1) One hundred per cent. (2) Seventy-six per cent of the current bus fleet is fully accessible and 36 per cent of bus routes are serviced by fully accessible buses. The introduction of fully accessible buses has been undertaken on a route-by-route basis. This ensures that all trips on identified routes are fully accessible. Other routes utilise fully accessible buses on many trips, according to fleet availability. This replacement program will further enhance these services.
