CANNABIS — AMNESTY
1186. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I
refer the Premier to his own comments, as captured by Hansard on 15 April
2003, when he said that he did not feel that people in our community who
may be small-time users of cannabis—once or twice or even 10 times—should have a criminal record. I find myself in
full and enthusiastic agreement with him. As we prepare to rise for the holiday season, will the McGowan government consider
a Christmas amnesty for those currently facing charges based solely on
possession of a small quantity of cannabis for personal use?
