I refer the Minister to the awarding of tender to Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in February 2005, for an audit of the TRELIS system, and ask -
(1) What is the purpose of the audit?
(2) Why is it required?
(3) Why is it necessary to obtain external consultants to undertake the work?

2. TRELIS collects over $1billion annually for the State and disburses those funds as prescribed by Government. It is important to have an assurance that this business is operating with appropriate controls. 3. This is a matter best answered by the Treasurer or by contacting the Auditor General directly.
