I refer to question on notice 977 of November 25 1999 and question on notice 1750 of April 6 2000 -
(1) Can the Minister for the Environment advise whether any part of the entire footage of "videotape No 2" shows leakage and seepage through the walls of the Oroya tailings dam?
(2) If not, why not?

The Minister Replied:
(1) No.
(2) In the earlier footage on video tape No 2 there is evidence of rainfall during the taking of the video. In later footage rainfall is not evident. The surface water run off and accumulations of surface water shown on the land adjacent to the Oroya Tailings Dam are consistent with recent rainfaull and do not necessarily provide evidence of leakage and seepage through the walls of the Oroya Tailings Dam.
