430. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) What is the
length of the Meekatharra–Wiluna road, which is a part of the
Goldfields Highway and a designated state highway?
(2) When is this road scheduled to
be sealed?
(3) What is the cost of sealing this road?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question. Main Roads WA has provided the following advice.
(1) The length is 180 kilometres.
(2) A $20 million
package of sealing works will commence shortly. The timing of further upgrade
works on this road will be subject to future state budgetary processes.
(3) A recent review estimated the
cost to upgrade this section of road to be in excess of $250 million.
