I refer to the deployment of five Youth Crime Intervention officers (YCIOs) at Warwick Police, and I ask: (a) what are the ranks of these officers; (b) what is their role; (c) what is the geographical area of their responsibility; (d) what are the type, title and duration of any programs which they undertake; (e) are these officers deployed full time on activities listed at (d); (f) what are their responsibilities under the Young Offenders Act 1994; and (g) how many individual youths were dealt with in the last financial year?

WA Police advise: (a) Senior Constable. (b) To proactively engage with juvenile Prolific Priority Offenders (PPO), juvenile Persons of Interests (POI) and other Youth at Risk. YCIO establish a list of youth to engage based on the district crime trends involving PPO and POI, to coordinate the delivery of youth services and refer youths to appropriate crime diversionary programs. The YCIO engage with other Government and Non-Government agencies and stakeholders to assist with case management by forming an Integrated Offender Management Working Group meeting. (c) The North West Metropolitan Police District. (d-e) Not applicable. (f) Participation in Juvenile Justice Team Meetings in accordance with Section 37 of the Young Offenders Act 1994. (g) 226.
