MICKELBERG CASE — EX GRATIA PAYMENT
I refer the Attorney General to a report in The West Australian on 17 January 2008 in which the Attorney General is accused of settling the Mickelberg brothers’ claim by agreeing to conditions beyond those agreed to by cabinet. Has the Attorney General sought to have The West Australian correct the public record; and, if not, why not? Hon SUE ELLERY

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Attorney General advises that he has, unfortunately, become used to inaccurate and unethical reporting by The West Australian and the futility of seeking a correction to ensure the public is properly informed.
