In 2014/15, additional funding of $550,000 was provided to Youth Focus. This is one-off funding commencing from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015. Of that funding, it is estimated that approximately 45% will be spent in the South West (Bunbury through to Albany). This funding will be spent on a dedicated Education Development Coordinator role, additional Specialist Psychology Services (SPOT) for postvention support and increased school demand and delivery of the Year 9 program to 30 schools.
As part of the July 2014 Suicide Prevention Small Grants funding round, the Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention approved three projects in the South West region totalling $17,994.30. Project descriptions are provided below:

Lamp Inc
The aim of the program is to develop resilience and enhance mental health and connectedness with Indigenous Australian Culture. This initiative will engage secondary students from the local high school.

Additionally, two Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshops will be delivered in the Albany region in early 2015 totalling $10,000. This training will be available for Schizophrenia Fellowship Albany and Districts employees and other key stakeholders in the region.
Further funding of $18,230 (excluding GST) was awarded to deliver Teen Mental Health First Aid training to Year 10 students attending Dalyellup College. The estimated number of participants is 170 students. The training will occur throughout the months of November and December 2014.
