Federal government—Aged-care funding
337. Mr Basil Zempilas to
the Premier:
I have a
supplementary question. If the Premier is serious about urgently tackling the
crisis in our hospital system, why would he not have ensured that someone from his
government met with the Prime Minister while he was here in Perth on Sunday
instead of him waiting weeks to fly to Canberra to have the same conversation?

I think I made it
clear that the Prime Minister was here to attend the Resources Technology
Showcase and to demonstrate his support for Western Australian industry. I am
meeting with him next week. He obviously would not have been available during
that short visit. We will have the opportunity to discuss our policies and our
approach to health care with the Prime Minister—an approach that he
supports, because the Prime Minister knows that Western Australia has the
strongest economy and the fastest growing population in the country. We
continue to make sure that we invest in health care and other services to make
sure that people in Western Australia can get access to health care where they
live when they need it.
