C-series trains
210. Mr Basil Zempilas to
the Minister for Transport:
I have a
supplementary question. I will ask again, minister. Are there currently any
issues with doors opening or closing, difficulty communicating with the train
radio, platform detection issues and excessive swaying or lateral movement at
speed?

As I said, the
issues we are working with the union members on in particular relate to the
comfort of the seats and the air conditioning. Those other issues have not been
raised with me as issues of any concern. As I said, the train drivers are
transitioning to a new system. They have being surveyed and they have provided
a response. We take those issues seriously and continue to work with them.
But you know what?
We built our railcars here, members. We built them here. We employed hundreds
of people. It is the opposition—the Liberal and National Parties—that
are obsessed with trying to tear down Metronet. It did not work last election
and it did not work in the election before, but if they want to make it another
third-term agenda, go ahead. Go ahead; we will debate issues of public
transport any day, any year.
Mr Basil Zempilas interjected.
Ms Rita Saffioti: Look at this false sort of acting
from the Leader of the Opposition! As I said, we will compare and contrast our
record on public transport with theirs any day of the year.
