FITZROY CROSSING BRIDGE ALLIANCE PROJECT —
SECURITY
1443. Hon NEIL THOMSON to the Minister for Emergency
Services:
I refer to answer to question 1379
answered on 8 November and note that only staff employed on the bridge project
are permitted to use the secure complex mentioned in the minister's
answer.
(1) Given that
approximately 80 trades and contractors are working in Fitzroy Crossing
carrying out vital post-flood recovery work,
many of whom are contracted directly to government agencies, will the minister consider making the secure complex available to those workers?
(2) If yes to (1), when will the
complex become available to those contractors?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) Is the
minister aware that there is a significant level of frustration growing in
regard to the safety and security among the flood recovery contractors, many of
whom have had cars and tools stolen and that there is a serious risk that this
area will become unserviceable if further action is not taken?
