(1) Can the Premier confirm that on 6 May 2009, in relation to the Gindalbie Metals Karara iron ore project in the Mid West, he told the Parliament “this government, along with the EPA and the mining industry, has sorted out the problem. The mining tenement will be released. The A-class reserve will be established”? (2) Can the Premier confirm that the A-class reserve, known as Mungada Ridge, has in fact not been established after four years? (3) Can the Premier confirm that he remains committed to the creation of the A-class reserve: (a) if not, why not; and (b) if so, when will the reserve be created?

(2) Yes.
(3) Nothing has changed which would alter the commitment to establish the A-class reserve. Karara Mining Limited holds the tenement which covers the Mungada Ridge and has not relinquished the tenement. The company has recently approached Government to discuss the merit of pursuing mining and conservation on the tenement. Government has not yet considered any proposal from Karara Mining.
