I refer to the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services (OICS) Report into an Announced Inspection of the West Kimberley Regional Prison (2017), noting that Recommendation 16 was to ensure that all staff have locally-focused training in social and cultural awareness of
Kimberley Aboriginal peoples, and ask: (a) does the Minister accept this recommendation: (i) if not, why not; (b) when will this recommendation be implemented; (c) how many staff at West Kimberley Regional Prison have undertaken culturally appropriate, locally focused training since this report was published; (d) how much funding was set aside in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 budgets for culturally appropriate training at the West Kimberley Regional Prison; and (e) how much money will be set aside to fund this recommendation in the coming financial year?
