I refer to the proposed Department of Housing land known as “Keralup” (formally Amarillo) and ask: (a) what is the status of this development proposal; (b) is it the intention of the Department of Housing to continue to pursue this development, and if not, why not; and (c) is the Government considering abandoning this proposed development and instead using the land at Keralup as a State Offset site in the future?

The Department of Housing advises:
(a)
The strategic assessment of the Perth and Peel Regions, in concert with relevant Western Australian Planning Commission planning processes, is currently considering future land use in the Perth and Peel regions with the aim of optimising outcomes for urban, rural residential and industrial development, major infrastructure corridors, basic raw material extraction, and the environment.
The development of Keralup is being considered as part of this process.
(b)
The Department of Housing is working collaboratively with other agencies in relation to the strategic assessment of the Perth and Peel regions and Western Australian Planning Commission planning processes.
