Further to the Federal Court decision of 9 June 2000 which upheld a Magistrate's Court ruling to restore the access of two dental nurses to the three highest incremental points of their pay scale - (1) Is the minister aware that other dental nurses in similar circumstances are now being denied access to higher salary increments? (2) Has the Metropolitan Health Services Board made a decision not to extend the effect of the Federal Court decision to other dental nurses in a similar situation? (3) If yes, what was the basis for this decision? (4) Does the minister support the need for nurses to initiate, and for the MHSB to defend, legal action to access higher salary increments? (5) Why has the MHSB not already given the directive to correct the pay of the two nurses named in the Federal Court ruling? (6) Will the minister explain why the MHSB allowed dental services to remove the career structure of these nurses? (7) Will the minister ensure that the career structure of these nurses is reinstated to give them the same promotion rights as other MHSB employees? Hon PETER FOSS
