378. Hon RICK MAZZA to the
Minister for Agriculture and Food:
I refer to the trial of bounties for the destruction of wild
dogs.
(1) Have there been any claims under the trial bounty
program?
(2) If yes to (1), how many wild dog
scalps have been claimed?
(3) Will the minister extend the
program?
(4) Will foxes be included in the
program?

I thank the member for some notice
of this question.
(1) Yes.
(2) The program
is in the early stages. Scalps were delivered last week and information is
still coming in. Fifty-eight scalps have been delivered to Challa Station.
(3) A review will
be made of the program and an assessment will be made on the conclusion of the
trial.
(4) The
Department of Agriculture and Food will be consulting with the relevant groups
interested in a bounty system.
