SOFTWOOD PLANTATIONS
1298. Hon LOUISE KINGSTON to the Minister for Forestry:
I
refer to the native forestry ban and the impact it will have on Western Australian
communities, and the government's plan to increase the state's
reliance on softwood.
(1) Has the
Forest Products Commission or the state government made any land acquisitions
for future softwood plantations?
(2) Does the government intend to import softwood in
order to meet supply gaps left by the native forestry ban?
(3) If so, have
these international market negotiations commenced?
