In relation to the map of the forest conservation reserve system titled “Map 5: Origin of Conservation Reserve Proposals” that the Conservation Commission of Western Australia published in January 2002 as part of its forest management plan discussion paper, I ask - (1) What is the total area of new reserves to be created as a result of the Government’s protecting our old-growth forests policy, which are coloured blue on the map? (2) What is the total area of forest in these new reserves? (3) What is the total area of old-growth forest in these new reserves? Dr EDWARDS

(2) Approximately 155 500 hectares of forest and woodlands for those ecosystems listed in appendix 5.10 of the discussion paper titled “A new forest management plan for Western Australia”. (3) Approximately 87 100 hectares.
