REX AIRLINES —
INTRASTATE AIR ROUTES
640. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the current tender
process for the rights to operate on regulated intrastate air routes currently
serviced by Rex airlines.
(1) In the event
that Rex airlines is a tenderer for any of the tendered routes, will the
following factors be taken into consideration as part of the tender evaluation
process —
(a) failure to
meet current performance standards; and
(b) inability to
secure sufficient pilots and maintenance staff to maintain acceptable service
levels?
(2) When will the successful tenderer be announced by the
state government?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The tender documentation for the exclusive rights
to operate certain intrastate air routes includes criteria against which
airlines were invited to submit proposals. These criteria include air services,
airfares, infrastructure capability, route development and community
engagement, and adequacy of the Western Australian industry participation
strategy participation plan.
(2) It will be once the tender
process is completed.
