I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police.
The Western Australia Police Force
advises the following.
(1) The definition of authorised strength FTE is the
number of permanently funded positions within the WA Police Force. The
authorised FTE is 77.65 officers specifically dedicated to providing
investigation and support of family violence incidents. It should be noted,
however, that all frontline police officers can respond to family violence
incidents and play a key role in investigations and ongoing victim support.
(2) (a) There
were 55 926.
(b) There were
58 994.
(3) The WA Police
Force is unable to provide a response on the number of arrests resulting from
the above incidents as the data cannot be determined in a reliable and
systematic manner. Manual interrogation of each incident is required to ensure
that the family violence incidents attended on the police dispatch system are
directly linked to the arrests recorded in the police incident management
system.
