Children's Court—Burglaries
475. Hon Nick Goiran to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Attorney
General:
I refer to comments
made by Judge Hylton Quail, President of the Children's Court, during his
interview on 3 June 2025 with ABC radio in which he stated:
There are currently 695 burglary
charges before the Children's Court Statewide … The second—
biggest reason—
one is getting food … And the
third one is getting money for drugs.
(1) How many of these charges relate to children
seeking food?
(2) How many relate to
children seeking money for drugs?
