684. Hon. P.G. PENDAL to the Premier:
I refer to the Commission on Government Report (No. 2 - Part 1) of December 1995, in which whistleblower legislation in the form of a Public Interest Disclosures Act was recommended to protect people who make public interest disclosures and ask -
(a) has such legislation been introduced into Western Australia to ensure that people making such disclosures are not made liable for any action, claim or other demand against them;
(b) if not, why not;
(c) has the Government prepared legislation, consistent with the recommendation that Section 361 of The Criminal Code (dealing with criminal defamation of Members of Parliament) for the section to be repealed; and
(d) if not, why not?
