(f) The PATS subsidy towards accommodation is: · $60 per night for an eligible person travelling without an approved carer/escort; · $75 per night for a patient travelling with an approved carer/escort; and · $20 per night for patients using private accommodation. (g) Answer as per (f) above. (h) The PATS provides a subsidy towards the cost of travel and accommodation. Any additional expense is borne by the patient. (i) The Scheme applies capped rates to mileage, air travel, and accommodation: · 16 cents per kilometre when travelling by private vehicle. · Air travel from Pilbara and Kimberley Regions and Remote Areas. · Air travel if clinically necessary for journeys of more than 16 hours by road. · Air travel for cancer treatment if a patient has to travel more than 350km by road. · Accommodation subsidy as outlined in answer (f). (a) In the 2011/12 financial year a total of $34.2 million was paid in PATS subsidies.  This does not include the cost of administering the Scheme.
(b) In the 2011/12 financial year there was a total of 76,234 PATS claims.
(c) PATS claims are for intrastate patient travel only.
(d) See table below for the number of approved PATS claims by region for the 2011/12 financial year:
