I refer to the contract for landscaping the Esperance Health Campus where plants were provided by a Perth company and not a local business, and ask: (a) why did this contract not have a buy local policy; (b) does the Minister agree that this goes against what the Royalties for Regions endorses, which is to "promote and facilitate economic and social development in regional Western Australia"; and (c) what measures are being implemented to ensure that Royalties for Regions projects deliver on their initiatives to ensure local businesses benefit?

(a)The contract for landscaping is managed by Building Management and Works (BMW). I refer you to the Minister for Finance for information on this specific contract.
(b) I am keen to ensure that local businesses are used wherever possible.
(c) All financial agreements governing the use of Royalties for Regions funds contain a clause that requires the agency to comply with the State’s Buy Local Policy and Building Local Industry Policy when purchasing goods or services or works for the project. Agencies are required to report on this as part of their financial agreement.
