I refer to the Friend in Need – Emergency (FINE) program and the contract with Silver Chain or the provision of the program, and ask:
(a) how many people have been treated by the program in each month of operation;
(b) how many people have been diverted from hospital as a result of the program in each month of operation; and
(c) has the program been audited for value for money and effectiveness, and if so, will you table the report of that audit, and if not, when will such an audit take place?

(a) Over 35,000 people in total have been treated by the FINE Silver Chain Home Hospital. (See tabled paper no).
(b) The number of people diverted from hospital is not available. There is a high level of confidence that the Home Hospital is supporting hospital avoidance and facilitating early hospital discharge.
(c) An independent formal evaluation of the Home Hospital commenced in March 2012 and effectiveness of the service and 'value for money' are specifically identified as key considerations of the evaluation. A final evaluation report is scheduled for completion by September 2012.
