101. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the Minister
for Housing:
I refer to the minister's
answer to question without notice 19 that stated —
Each state and territory adopts an
independent approach to determining assessable income.
Will the minister please name the
other Australian states that include as assessable income the following —
(a) carer allowance;
(b) bereavement allowance;
(c) remote area allowance;
(d) pharmaceutical allowance;
(e) double orphan pension;
(f) orphan, ward of the state and
foster allowance;
(g) intermediate war pension;
(h) � Department of Veterans Affairs'
extreme disability adjustment; and
(i) Department of Veterans Affairs'
prisoner of war recognition supplement.

The Housing Authority advises that
the following is based on publicly available information —
(a) carer allowance is not assessed
by other jurisdictions;
(b) bereavement
allowance is assessed by Tasmania; not assessed by South Australia, New South
Wales or Queensland; and is not specified by Victoria, the Australian Capital
Territory or the Northern Territory;
(c) remote area
allowance is not assessed by South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania or
Queensland; and is not specified by Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory
or the Northern Territory;
(d) pharmaceutical allowance is not
specified by other jurisdictions;
(e) double orphan
pension is assessed by Tasmania; and not assessed by South Australia, Victoria,
New South Wales, Queensland, the Northern Territory or the Australian Capital Territory;
(f) orphan, ward
of the state and foster allowances do not appear to be commonwealth payments;
(g) intermediate war pension is not
specified by other jurisdictions;
(h) Department of
