ELIZABETH QUAY — WATER PARK —
REOPENING
1102. Hon MARTIN PRITCHARD to the
minister representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the BHP Billiton Water
Park at Elizabeth Quay and I ask —
(1) Has water
testing been carried out by the department since completion of the remediation
works?
(2) If yes to (1) —
(a) when was testing carried out;
(b) have the results been assessed;
and, if yes —
(c) were the results of a satisfactory
standard to allow for the reopening of the park?
(3) If results have not yet been
assessed, when will assessment be completed?
(4) Will the minister table the test
results; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) (a) Tests
were conducted daily between 5 and 9 September, 19 and 23 September, 29 and 30 September,
and on 3 October and 5 October.
(b) Yes.
(c) Yes;
however, some results are still pending, and additional twice-weekly testing is
being undertaken to ensure the robust operation of all management systems.
(3) Assessment
will be complete once the Department of Health is satisfied that all management
systems are operating effectively. Once approval to reopen is given, a testing
regime will be required on an ongoing basis as one of the conditions of
operation.
(4) No—as tabling of results would be premature prior
to any decision being made about reopening.
