I refer to the latest annual report of the Office of the Information Commissioner, which refers at page 7 to the Department of Health ‘taking tangible and positive steps to implement [the Information Commissioner’s] recommendation that health services across the State should further share knowledge and improve the quality and consistency of FOI processing across that very important portfolio’, and I ask will the Minister please provide full details regarding the steps being taken by your Department to improve the quality and consistency of freedom of information processing across the health portfolio?

The delivery of Freedom of Information services across the WA Public Health sector will be reviewed as part of a full review of the Release of Information across the sector. A Project Officer role has been established for this purpose and recruitment is currently in process.
A major function of this position will be to evaluate how information (both medical and non-medical) is currently released to the public by all hospitals and health agencies and to inform standardised policies and procedures to be implemented health wide.
