The Social Policy Unit of the Department for the Premier and Cabinet supports the work of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Social Policy (CSCSP) comprising of the Ministers of all Human Services portfolios. The CSCSP meets every month and drives the major whole-of-government strategies in social policy. The State Government has recently announced a comprehensive $173million Mental Health Strategy over three years which includes a $63million initiative to build an extra 420 community based beds for mental health patients; $11million to expand mental health services for young people across Western Australia; and $65million to add 113 inpatient beds to relieve mental health pressures.
