I note that, according to the Corrective Services website, Quarterly Statistics reports (on numbers of adults and young people who are in the care of the Department, either in custody or in the community) are to be produced at the end of March, June, September and December, and ask: (a) Why have no quarterly statistics reports for adult prisoners been released and uploaded for the: (i) Quarter ending June 2017; (ii) Quarter ending September 2017; (iii) Quarter ending December 2017; (iv) Quarter ending March 2018; and (v) Quarter ending June 2018?

The Department of Justice advises:
The production of these reports is not a legislative or a departmental policy requirement.
The production of the monthly and quarterly reports was labour-intensive and took considerable time to create and check. The Department is developing a new Corrective Services data and reporting framework to systemise the production of the quarterly statistics reports. While this work has been underway it has not been possible to publish these reports.
It is intended to resume publication of quarterly reports, including reports for quarters ending June 2017, September 2017, December 2017, March 2018 and June 2018 from the September 2018 quarter onwards.
